The art of color blocking: Spring ready!

Pick a color, any color...and whatever the next most obnoxious color you can think of, pair it with the first. And there you have it my friend, the art of color blocking. We all need a little color in our lives! I like to believe I have ALOT of it! Reds, oranges, blues, hot pinks, yellow, bright greens and all. You name it, and it's most likely in my closet! Which makes color blocking one of my favorite things! The real definition of color blocking:  the art of taking colors that are opposites on the color wheel and pairing them together to make interesting and complementary color combinations.I just love this form of exploration when it comes to my style. Colors that I would never have thought to pair together actually look pretty cool. And being that fashion has no rules, whatever combination you come up with is bound to be deemed stylish! What's your favorite color combination? Let me know in the comments below.

Here comes the Sun: How to transition between seasons

274A3105.jpg

Wishful thinking, spring is almost here..I think! But in the meantime here's a few tips on how to dress for the in between.Finding outfits that work for both winter and spring has to be the most difficult seasonal transition ever! The two seasons are the most contrasting (which is why I usually get the sniffles around this time). One day is 73 and the next is 30!

Here are a few tips that I've found helpful when trying to transition between seasons:

  1. Spring Colors- Winter textures: Thankfully the fashion trends have re-introduced one of my favorite trends. Pastel-Spring colors on winter items. This beautiful Zara coat would not be the same if it weren't for the perfect combination of orange and yellow!
  2. Coats- Spring (jumpsuit, dress, whatever you like): Since were on this beautiful coat, it truly did pull out every color of my island-feel  chiffon jumpsuit. Chiffon has always been known to be spring/summer material, but with a winter coat is pairs wonderfully for the in between.
  3. Layer up...lightly: You''ll never catch me in the middle of winter with less than 3 layers on, if you do by any chance, I'll probably only be exposed for less than 34 seconds. One way transition in between winter and spring is to layer up- but lightly. I threw on a rather thin turtleneck underneath my jumpsuit to pull it all together.

How do you dress in between seasons?

Where is spring? Spring-winter outfits!

IMG_3116.jpg

If you're reading this post from the tristate area on Feb 21 2018 then you know that it is 70+ degrees outside! The weather I've been anticipating but sadly only here for a moment! I refuse to let that stop me though! I will dress for spring weather until Mother Nature follows or at least until I get a cold!In my excitement for spring I created this look to fall perfectly between the two seasons! Bold spring colors with a winter texture and a denim jacket. Not mention these beautiful embroidered green heels from Zara!My dress, reminded me of the rainbow, and when do you see rainbows the most...in Spring! But at the same time, the texture of this dress can fit into the winter season too.My shoes, booties as we know are more popular in the fall and winter months, but when I tell you that this green screamed spring I just had to get them!My denim jacket, the thing I love most about denim jackets is they have no season. Wear them in the summer with a crop top and shorts -- set! Or wear them in the winter with a hoodie and some sweats. Either way it works! Are you counting down to spring? What's your favorite season? Let me know in the comments below.

A little bit of spring in Winter

I think that the mind is a powerful thing, I often imagine myself in Miami to combat the cold winter air, trust me it works! But when that fades or my mind is exhausted I simple add a little bit of spring to my winter! If you live in the tri-state area then you know that we've had what feels like a very long winter, well to me at least! I swear it snows every other day. But with the cold air, I've found comfort in beautiful things. Like this fuzzy fur coat for example! My artist described it as a fuzzy blanket that's stylish.Comfortable, that's what it truly is! I could stay in it all day! The dusty rose is my personal favorite touch on this coat. Paired with my pink vans I felt like I was bringing a little bit of spring into winter. So I'm hoping that this weekend was the groundhog doesn't see it's shadow, because although winter has been fun...who am I kidding, it hasn't been fun, it's been endurable and I'm very much looking forward to this change in temperature! This year, fashion (Vogue trends) hasn't been shy of throwing bright spring/summer colors into winter attire and I certainly wanted to join in on the party! Typically these pink vans only make an appearance during the spring and summertime with shorts and crop tops, but I figured I'd switch it up!
