How to style RED Booties | Fall Looks

red-boots-cover-2.jpg

It's hard for me to say that I have a favorite pair of shoes since I love them all, but these red booties come pretty close! Let me show you how you to style red booties and stretch your wardrobe by creating fabulous looks around one item!TuesdayTooBad is starting a segment on their site called "favorite piece," which will focus on a particular item in your wardrobe and how you style it! (Stay tuned for my feature) As I mentioned before, when it comes to my shoes it's hard to have a favorite.RED is such powerful color! Combine that with suede and a pointed boot an you have a whole fashion statement! That's what I love about these booties, and that's what makes them my pretty, almost favorites!

Casual Look

For each look I wanted to show the boot's versatility. That although they are an eye-catcher, they can be worn with different kinds of outfits. If you're going for a more casual, everyday kind of look, pair red boots with light denim and an oversized sweater or duster coat! Two very fall-like everyday items that allows the bootie to be the focus, but still creates a cute look![gallery columns="2" size="full" ids="3163,3162,3160,3159"]

Sporty Look

Who said heels can't be sporty? I've always been a fan of wearing heels with sporty clothes, ie. sweats, t-shirts, jogger pants etc! Lately, I've been seeing the trend of dressing up track pants, which led me to pull out my old high school Adidas pants! I wanted this look to be more intentional, so when I found this red beret at Zara, I knew exactly which direction to go! Introducing a sassy, fabulous sporty-chic French mime(r).[gallery columns="2" size="full" ids="3157,3158,3154,3155"]

Sassy Look

This last look had to embody the full power of what these boots possess, that "I'm bad and I know it" type of feel! Pleated skirt, lace corset, cape blazer and a bold, red lip! BAM! An outfit that will turn heads wherever you go![gallery columns="2" size="full" ids="3167,3166,3164,3165"]

Je ne sais quoi | Vintage Fashion Look

Vintage fashion is always something that never goes out of style! The same could be said for Brasserie, a French restaurant with red couches and a touch of Paris! Both possessing that certain je ne sais quoi! I'm no food blogger, but I do love me some good food! The number one characteristic that I look for in a restaurant (other than the food) is the ambiance.  Brasserie brought me back to Paris, a tiny piece of France right here in Tenafly, NJ. And although I loved the food and art in Paris, what truly made my trip memorable was the fashion of course.I knew I wanted my look to be inspired by how I viewed Paris. Classic, simple, elegant and timeless. Which brought me to buy these vintage cat eye sunglasses paired with statement earrings. Being that the focus of my look is my sunglasses, I decided to rock a black mock neck top with my suede H&M pants to create a stylish look!Last but certainly not least, my shoes. These DIY faux girls were quick and easy to make with a grand total of $11. I wanted a short heel so that they could be worn comfortably, but needed to faux fur to make them extraordinary! Just like that, that je ne said quoi that I needed!

xx,

F is for Fall Fur

You know, I'm a spring baby and although I'd rather be hot than cold I need the seasons to make up their minds. I was ready to bring out my fall fur and the sun just wanted to steal my shine, nonetheless  I made it work! When faced with the challenge of trying to make a fall outfit when it's still 75+ degrees, I try to pull on specific items from both seasons! In the fall one item that is specific to that season is FUR, and for spring it's rompers (summer too). While pursuing around online late one night, I stumbled across Rent The Runway's page. Scrolled through the rompers and jumpsuits section and fell in love with this DVF romper. It's different, funky, imperfect yet fashionable! The two toned aspect of the romper is what really sold me; it kind of reminded me of a DIY top I made for NYFW last year. And although it's a romper (which is usually worn in during the warmer seasons), I feel that the colors worked perfect for the Fall.I always need a statement color for my outfits, I'm not the biggest fan of being match-y match-y, unless of course I'm creating a single color outfit, and in that case I like to be super match-y and extra! So when I was scrolling through the handbags tab on RTR and saw the color of this Rebecca Minkoff bag, which was almost exact to a Dolce&Gabbana lipstick of mine; I just knew it was meant to be! Paired with some Kanye-sque peep toe booties and I was done!Quick side note about Rent the Runway, I always thought the concept of this brand was ingenious but I never had too many occasions in which I needed a gown. So when the company started to expand into everyday clothes, handbags, jewelry and more I knew we would be long term friends. Being able to rotate looks like clockwork is something I'm a big fan of, and I'm able to save my coins because I'm not paying designer dollars for these items! Thank you RTR, I appreciate you!

Girl in Town: An Impromptu Fashion Shoot

try-2.jpg

Impromptu fashion shoot(s) always bring out the best creativity. Don't believe me ? Look for yourself at the look that was created in less then 5 mins in the middle of DUMBO.6am. I was up at 6am on a Saturday. This in and of itself was a miracle. I was headed into Brooklyn with none other than Elyse, of course. Because the only reason I would be up at 6am on the weekend is for a photoshoot, only this time it wasn't mine...or so I thought.I styled my cousin Jeremy for a shoot that he had with Elyse; got to tap into some of my men styling tips that I learned at Nordstrom as a stylist assistant. As we scoped out the blocks of Dumbo we found a lot of cute, blogger spaces! AND boom...lightbulb.So they always say, "great minds think alike," and yeah, me and Elyse have great minds, but we missed the mark.  Although we both thought I should bring a look with me, I didn't. But better believe we finessed it. A quick run to H&M, a pair of boots that were in the car and a $1 lipstick and...issa look! Who would of thought that creativity could work that quickly. I had no makeup on, ashy lips and a maxi tee with an infinity scarf. I was in no position to be in front of the camera, but I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out! #bloggerstyleAll photographed by... Elyse Ketura Photography.

Masterful Mustard Look

274A1131.jpg

Self: What color condiment would you like to be today? Other self: mustard. I like to take risks, especially fashion risks! Who wants to color inside the lines when you can create a colorful, crazy out of the box masterpiece! The color featured in my current masterpiece is mustard, because why not?! I mean come on.... who wouldn't want to look like this.I'm pretty infamous for one color looks, I've done powdered blue, soft pink, yellow, navy, purple and more! It's fun and it really challenges my style to  have to create a look that is one color, but isn't overwhelming or tacky!

Mustard Look Details:

This whole ensemble started with a tiny piece of recycled clothing. I stumbled across the instagram page RAGD LA (thanks to a certain celebrity) and fell in love with the concept. They take old clothes and create new pieces with it, hence (ragd)la. One man's trash is another man's treasure. Simple, yet clever! I saw this mustard tube top and had to have it. Loveeee that it's made out of a knit sweater type material and I thought it'd be perfect for fall! After the top came in the mail I knew I wanted to create a single color look, so I went on a mission for the perfect pant, skirt, romper or something to match my top. I stumbled across yet another small business page called SHE THE COLLECTION. Although this beautiful romper took quite some time to get to me, I am so happy that I purchased it. It was perfect for the look. Paired this set with my mustard heels, a mustard  duster and luis crossbody and I was set! What do you think of my one colored outfit?Photographed by Elyse Ketura Photography
